Last meeting in Daugavpils, Latvia

Day 1 - Monday 9th May 2022:

On the 9th, in the morning, we met the students who came from Italy. Later, as we had to go to school, we got on a tram in which a girl from the city acted as our guide and explained the different parts of the city to us.

Once we arrived at the institute, the Latvian students received us in a very good way, they sang us typical songs and taught us two typical dances.

Later in the afternoon the Latvians showed us around the city and we visited a church and then we went to see the university from the outside.

Last night we all went to dinner at a restaurant and there we met the students who came from Romania.

Day 2 - Tuesday10th May 2022:

We left the hotel at 9 o’clock and we went by tram to the school. There we did some activities. At 9:50 we did a game called energizer. We had to build a structure with some materials for a Lego passenger, who had to fly six meters without falling. Then, we did an ice breaking activity. After that, we had a little break and then we did the presentation which we have prepared in Spain. It lasted from 12:00 to 13:00. Also, we tried to find similarities and differences between schools, cities and countries bases on the presentations and we wrote it in a laptop. For all this process we needed a special qr code which was in our name cards, which let us going to a web where we wrote our opinions about the activities. We had lunch at 13:50 in the school. After that we went to the hall of the hotel to wait for a guide to show us the city centre. Finally, we had 3 hours of free time. We spent them with our Italian friends, and we ended up the day having dinner in a restaurant.

Day 3 - Wednesday11th May 2022:

On Wednesday 11 we leave the hotel all together at 9:45 approximately and we take a bus to go to Aglona, a town like 1 hour away from Daugavpils.

We arrive at aglona's basilica like at 10:45 and we enter to take pictures and explore the impressive landscapes from the surroundings.

After taking the bus again like at 11:25 we went to the War II Museum where we learn from the man there many things about the war in Latvia. after that we take a look there, and we were able to customize ourselves with costumes and disabled guns. we obviously take some photos.

After taking the photos we came back to the bus, and we went to the Bread Museum in Aglona where we received a masterclass from the people from the museum which were truly kind and patient. The people from the museum also prepared us some food to have lunch. the menu for that day was a total surprise. we ended up eating mashed potatoes, cream of mushrooms, barley seed soup, and finishing with a typical dessert from the area, which we liked a lot.

After a big lunch to take energy, they give us the bread that we had made, and we did a energizer game related with the bread.

When we prepared ourselves to go to the penultimate destination, King's Hill, it is a hill where are many sculptures related with the kings and the Catholics.

We end up the day in Aglona going to Velnezers lake, where we take some amazing photos.

At 6 o’clock we were at Daugavpils again and the Latvian team invited us to go with them to watch an ice hockey match (the local team won 4-1).

After that we have dinner and return to the hotel to have a rest from the long day that we had.

Day 4 - Thursday 12th May 2022:

On Thursday, May 12, we left the hotel at 9 in the morning to go to the institute to attend a presentation on how people with disabilities face their problems every day. Upon seeing this presentation, each of us was given a piece of paper with a different problem, when receiving this paper, the tutors read us ten questions which we had to take a step if our character could do what the question asked. At the end of this activity at 10:50, each group made an animation with a character with problems or disabilities, to see how we would see this problem or disability. From 1:50 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. we went to the dining room to eat what we had ordered weeks before. After eating we went to the hotel to rest. At 17:00 we took a tram to Daugavpils Fortress direction to receive a tourist tour. At 6:30 p.m. we finished the tour and went to dinner with the menus that we ordered weeks before, at the end of the dinner, each one of us was given the certificate diploma of having conducted the "Erasmus in our diversity" project.

Day 5 - Friday 13th May 2022: The last day of Erasmus Project, we were a little bit sad because it was the last day and we knew it. The day started very early, at 7:30 am we left the hotel, form Daugavpils to Riga, three hours in a bus. We arrived in the city, and we went to see a spectacular library, the national library. In the library we did a strange tour guide, because you were your own tour guide, you only need your mobile phone and headphones to hear the audios. As you were walking in the different floors, you were listening the histories that were represented there. After visiting the library, we were hungry, so we went to a restaurant, for me, one of the best restaurants where I had been. In the outside it looked so pretty, like a traditional house, and there was so much food, but unfortunately, I couldn’t test all. After eating, we did a visit around Riga, a very nice place to visit, I recommend it. We visited monuments, important streets, building, and we learned a lot of history of Riga. And finally, we arrived at the hotel, a beautiful hotel. However, we were there just 1 night to enjoy the city. We’d like to stay some more days, and now after everything, we can say we had a great time, which we enjoyed a lot.
